Effects of the Lemon Cherry Gelato Strain in Cannabis Research
1. Introduction
Two of the >500 identified compounds in cannabis are largely responsible for its psychoactive effects making Cannabis (Cannabis sativa L.) one of the most commonly used psychotropic drug. CBD is a class of compounds known as phytocannabinoids and has been shown to have a wide range of potential pharmacological effects. Primary marijuana constituents with regard to medicinal functions are cannabidiol (CBD) and Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol(THC).
Cannabis drug material (plant or plant extracts of cannabis used medicinally containing cannabinoids) and seven active ingredients in it are controlled under the 1961 Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs, as amended by Protocol 1 of 1972. They are scheduled at level 1, considered drugs of abuse that can have medical use in some countries.
But laws and drug control in the industry are rapidly evolving as an increasing number of countries, states allow either recreational or medicinal use of cannabis. In the USA, 24 states and DC have already legalized cannabis for recreation or medical use while ten state has passed recreational marijuana law.
This is naturally leading to public health problems related to its abuse potential [1], and, at the same time (more humanly in few expert minds), also any curiosities or interests about cannabis as a drug of addiction for understanding more therapeutic ligands.
Cannabis: Cannabis is another drug that has a long history of use for medicinal purposes, and among individuals seeking psychoactivity. The worldwide cannabis industry is likely to be worth billions. Insight into the mechanisms of cannabis and its phytocannabinoids will be critical when discussing possible risks, as well as to create synthetic derivatives capable of producing desired pharmaceutical effects.
Although used throughout antiquity, it has been just over 30 years since the identification of endocannabinoids that spurred an explosion in cannabis research and discovery2.
1.1. Overview:Effects of the Lemon Cherry Gelato Strain in Cannabis Research
In the world of cannabis, there are hundreds of cultivars and newly-emerging strains in bloom each year. Plants, including cannabis can adjust to environmental changes which results in new cultivars or varieties The way a plant expresses itself depends on both its genotype (green) and the environment, such as soil, temperature, humidity or light.
Certain strains provide good amounts of cannabinoids like Chemo, Sour Diesel or Gorilla Glue — while others are famous for their interesting terpene profiles such as Gelato, Cookies or Brewski mint. Cannabis sativa L. are widely cultivated worldwide, replies to environmental stress and specific allelic variation in the native gene pool contribute theoretically to great chemotypic/phenotypic diversity that allow fast selection of genotypes with desired trait combinations.
Cannabinoids and terpenes are two of the main classes of secondary metabolites that occur in this plant, both found to expression and accumulation is defined by genotypical as well as environmental factors. While cannibinoids have recently garnered top-line interest due to their potents biological activity, other compounds (e.g. terpenoids) have also been shown or are suspected to be healthful in normal humans.
This leads us to next topic I want, the fact that too many terpenoid profiles in Cannabis are chemotaxonomically very informative allowing the differentiation of varietal types2 In this work, we will identify phenolic compounds in two cultivars of cannabis (Gelato and Cookie) by ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography with high-res mass spectrometry using a hybrid quadrupole-time-of-flight analyzer.
2. The Lemon Cherry Gelato Strain
In general, cannabis strains are categorized as either indicas or sativas; however, most fall somewhere within the hybrid classification. With over a thousand unique cannabis strains in the world today, there are still more that are created and thrown into circulation. This started to appear in 2020, as a prime example of one of the freshest cannabis strains making themselves known.I noticed recently Lemon Cherry Gelato was growing below my last couple dealicious weeds, which isn’t surprising.
Genetics and Lineage
The Lemon Cherry Gelato strain is the offspring of three of the best and most well-known strains to ever grace Jinelle’s amazing stoners. Lemon Cherry Gelato Strain : A cross between Lemon cherry x gelato Cannabis Tutorial Lemon Cherry is a hybrid strain that results from the combination of indica with potent Golden cherry pie and Lemon haze strains.
Another popular strain is the Cherry Pie, which is a hybrid result of crossing an indica Granddaddy Purple and sativa Durban Poison. Gelato strain, meanwhile combines Sunset Sherbet (a clone-only Girl Scout Cookies phenotype) and Thin Mint GSC, scored among the top 10 best cannabis strains in the world again.
Physical Characteristics
Lemon Cherry Gelato – large chunky buds, small cone-shaped popcorn nuggets. Beautiful bright green leaves with vivid orange hairs and a thick coating of frosty white crystal trichomes. Flavors: Citrus, Cherry Limeade and vanilla all combine to make a sweet-sour lemon-berry with an hint of fresh creaminess mimicking the wood in birch beer. It has sweet and floral smell with cherry, lemon, diesel aroma which is followed by a tinge of nutmeg.
2.1. Genetics and Lineage
Most ultra-flavonoid gelato derivatives sourced back to third generation cannabis being bred for the perfect combo of great weed and a hint of that delicious gelly smell. Ultra-flavonoid profiles were clearly different among the four biotypes, and organoleptic analyses showed that gelato types also obviously differed. This is corroborated by the results of fermentation assays as shown above for gelato derivatives with similar function, are likely to be scents. Syrup samples from the reference biotypes were also mutually compared, and between gelato & pungent both of almost exclusively bore distinctive compounds; implying that these novel ultra-flavonoids could truly be new odor precursors in cannabis 1.
Lemon Cherry Gelato is a cannabis strain that we particularly like given the excellent quality of its genetics, which arise from crossbreeding Lemon Cherry and an elite clone selection of original Bay Area Cookies (gelato 41). The taste of this strain is sweetly sour and citrus-like with a fragrant, earthy smell as well as fruity overtones. 2.2. Physical Characteristics
After stating its genetic variances, the Lemon Cherry Gelato strain exploration follows suit and examines physical composition before setting on details of perception/experience with attention to related course corrections. This kind of observation establishes an anchoring point in a common observer-centered space within which the other observers live physically.
The Lemon Cherry Gelato bud should be viewed under a magnifying glass inside where it is quiet and as dark as possible Typical of their Gelato lineage, they exhibit the tall and dense plant structure synonymous with well grafted plants. The majority of the leaves and stems have a purple colouration with green margins, while leaf apex areas turn yellow.
Its leaves are thick and waxy, with the surface of its leaf blades appearing to be covered in slightly dusty (a coloring indistinguishable from grays) trichomes. The top most leaves on some of the taller plants are curling or drooping. Reluctantly, small black and a few white insect spots occur only on the leaves; this outweighs the average observation for other strains at this growth stage by far.
Deeper examination of the buds reveals a bounty of purple and lavender colors; most are compressed as all-finished finger-width nuggets. The nugs are fully coated in clear resinous trichomes, while the color of most seems to be ranging from milky white.
That is to say, they all have a familiar and stable odor of earthy must soda delight with an undertone similar as though caramel sweetness at the flavoring department were mixed. Aroma — The fruity or floral notes given off are more generalized and short lived.
3. Chemical Composition and Terpene Profile
Offering a myriad of effects, Lemon Cherry Gelato is a hybrid strain that comes from crossing 3 different strains which are namely the Lemon Skunk, Cherry Pie and Gelato 41. A balanced hybrid that boasts exceptional THC potential at up to 30%, it introduces a complex chemical profile designed for this purpose.
Lemon Cherry Gelato garners more than just general interest, it is a fragrance to talk about in part because of its lemon terpene profile caused by the large agglomerate of limonenes; which makes for such an interesting flavor dimension. Much like many hybridal plants, these nugs are small and circle-shaped buds that have a beautiful spectrum of purple shades patina with bright orange hairs.
Literature searches were also conducted to verify the chemical composition and terpene profile of Lemon Cherry Gelato, as well explore any therapeutic potential with possible adverse effects associated with use of this strain.
Utilizing a gas chromatograph with flame ionization detector, Yoshino et al. studied features of major cannabinoids and terpenes in the strain, analyzing three flowers [ Fig. 1 ] grown/cultivated by different providers located in U.S.

Myrcene, Terpinolene & α-Humulene are 3 terpenes that have respectively been identified and quantified in the chemical composition list of Lemon Cherry Gelato. This is further explored in relation to major cannabinoids THC and CBD, as well additional consideration terpenes when looking at the therapeutic use of Lemon Cherry Gelato.
The second session on medical cannabis and long-term effects make patients aware of some side effects, general adverse events as tachycardia, dry mouth (most common) and psychomotor slowing: this more associated with naive subjects.
